2:26 AM - Optimism, life, and the pursuit of knowledge.

It is now saturday. Spring semester is almost over. I have one last thing to do, finish my Beethoven paper, which I plan to do in the next 48 hours. As I look back on this first semester as a senior (though it is my junior year) this has been the most incredible semester of my life, and the hardest. Out of all my semesters in college this one was the one that felt like it was real. I felt like I was in touch with things and what I was doing with my studies and career. How can I say that? Well I tried i struggled i looked my fears in the face, sometimes letting them take me over, but I made it I am here living and breathing to talk about it. I am starting to back up and see what I have done, and where I am. And once i get my brain out of the hectic finals week craziness that it has just been in, I am pretty sure I will realize fully how far I've come.

That said, I think I am on the verge of a breakthrough mentally... What this is I have no idea but I can tell that I am going to advance really quick all of a sudden, or take hold of some incredible ideas. What a great time for it too! I have all summer to embrace new projects and well change. Last summer was an incredible experience that changed my life, this summer I expect nothing less, and I am sure that it is going to be incredible not only academically/job but also musically, I have a lot of new ideas brewing.

I can't wait, and I tried doing it a little today, to sit down and write some incredible music. Radiohead, my inspiration for all things music in my life, has been on tour and have premiered some new songs. The quality of the music, even listening from crude bootlegs, is impeccably composed. They are going back in time but also forward. The studio products of their work will be the best they have ever done. Listening to the new songs is a breath of fresh air, it has breathed new life back into my ears and my ideas for composition, now only if I had time! I WILL and am going to make time, I might have some gigs this summer, so I need to come up with new material, my original album/ep isn't enough. Also, Thom from the band is going to have a side project cd come out in July which I anticipate greatly. It will be mostly electronically composed which makes me even more excited since my interests are similar. Oh so much all the time.

Cheers to the world! It's summer, and its time to take advantage of it!!!

11:13 PM - End of the Semester Part II: Some of What I've Learned

1. Don't be hard on yourself (x2,000,000,000,000,000) This leads to very bad things...

2. Don't wait to do things till the last minute. Though I think its part of the college creed or something.

3. Be human damn it. The best part about living is realizing who you are, and once you do, you grow.

4.IT IS RARE that someone comes along and creates the NEXT BIG THING. IT IS those who can successfully combine many elements of present and past materials that usually progress. As humans we build off of ourselves not some *poof* GREAT NEW THING OUT OF THIN AIR.

5. Can't learn it all. Can't know it all. Your human. (okay so a little 3 is in there)

6. Wagner made really good music, but he was a terrible, terrible man. (there are too many love triangles in music, ughhhh)

7. Regression to the age of 11 is not okay, however if you grow from it then you might not try it again.

8. Misunderstanding of music is just another way of learning how to love it. One day it will reveal itself to you like an unfound object, then your eyes will get bright. (Thats for you Mozart)

9. Beethoven is an incredibly complex man who threw himself into each note. Those later string quartets are absolutely astonishing.

10. Back up and see things, the view is great.

11. Congratulations some how all that stuff you went though this semester just made you a better person.

Philosophical meg... I love what an open mind and a night on a kayak can do to you...
Here's to the rest of the semester and those three papers left. Cheers.

Ps- I can't wait to see what's in store for the summer! I'll post that next!
