ITs so rainy here in good ol' Maine... So rainy I didn't leave my humble abode once today, do I dare say it felt really good! It has been a relaxing weekend in which I pretty much disconnected myself from anything academic. Well, I couldn't really do that (It just might be impossible...). After seeing Serenity with Beth on friday (doesn't live up to the hype at all) home and the bars sat night, and then doing well close to nothing at all today (only a little reading), and did I mention I skipped a frisbee tourney cause I slept in and didn't feel like fertilizing a brewing cold with a day of running around in the pouring rain; I think I am finally ready to put my best back into it this week. @ around 4:00 on friday as I was making copies, on a chapter I plan to read tomorrow (or today now that its monday.. hrm how strange), I found myself wanting to run screaming out of merrill for no apparent reason. Glad I didn't, I would have probably been committed. The semester finally caught up to me... As much as I love music music music classes they hold a noose, which is growing in size, around my other two non-music classes. Yes, this is my fault but i am glad I finally identified it. I guess sometimes when you love something this said love overshadows other things. But, nothing bad has happened, no bad grades, its just noticing oh due dates for what in the where and the who what how now? HA! Yes...
I did make a fabulous discovery today. For sometime now I have been eyeing the ringtones @ Boosey and Hawkes and madly wanting Rites of Spring, and Brahms 3rd I found out they cannot be sent to my cell phone.. So I tried and tried to find some interesting ringtones.. NADA so while playing with the stupid thing I discovered I could program the phone note by note to create a song... Which left me very excited as I was watching my 2 hours of TV (Desperate Housewives and Gray's Anatomy) I allot myself a week (except for tomorrow night my team is playing monday night football). So feeling ambitious I grab my mini score of Brahms 3rd and program it in. An bah boom bah! I have a new, awesome, ringtone! I might attempt more of my classical favorites when I get some time tomorrow or later in the week. Its like a new way to compose. I was astonished my little POS phone that calls people while in my bag (without me touching it!) had such a great thing... I Hope my next phone has that!
Otherwise musically, well I am still working on a million things at once. All the scripts for the movies need done, Scriabin is almost done - though I think it needs pictures to work flawlessly. I will see where the work will go this week I am kinda at a weird dead end in ways until i get one of those iMac G5s for the Lab... hrm, must think about this further. Music Seminar presents me with borrowing in ancient times, coinciding with the famous Grout/Burkholder history text. I am finally getting it all, its wonderful trying to soak it all in as much as possible. So further investigation into borrowing and such needs to be done, should do that, yeah I should. In R2R (look below for the Blog Link) its also very good. Did a lengthy (which was not supposed to be!) presentation on Art Metal. Hard to believe it can be traced so far back into 20th C music - mindboggling. Also been tutoring some people, it really makes me contemplate teaching and effective methods of expressing clarity. This is so HARD but yet so fascinating. It really makes me look forward to the future. The future is always on my mind now. So many classes, 4 credit system, Italia, grad school somewhere out there, am I going to get a job after, eh! Everything everything everything all the time! (no, i didn't freak out thats how my mind works...) I am starting to realize, geeze I kinda have it, or the beginnings of it. And what is this IT you ask, well i think, not sure, its that teaching bug-always want to learn kind of thing/disease/symptoms. HAHA! When I look ahead I think of the CMS conference oh in what is it now 3 weeks! YES! Talk about some possible mindset changing days. OOOOOhhh sounds funky, well of course.. And its in Canada - Quebec to boot... It shall be a ball. Until nextime, the eclectic musings of a music obsessive will continue.
Ps- Titcomb updated their page for the first time this fall! That means snowboarding and possibly me learning Skate Skiing XC this year is almost here!!! SNOW IS COMING!!!
