One of my favorite song lyrics comes from the smashing pumpkins "Time is never time at all." Really makes one wonder what time really is...
This summer went way too fast, now its almost over. It was amazing! Begining with Italia and now ending well not ending its just going to keep on going into the semester. I have learned and grown, seen and done. It sounds like I am a little kid, well we are all little kids, we just can't see that with the idea of being an 'adult.' Well most of all I think this summer I found out that yes I am a musician, I am here I am in it, its not just this thing this image or whatever it was before. Its my life now and I am proud of it. I might not be the best on my instruments, but that doesn't matter. I play and I write and that right there makes me what I am. I guess thats why I started this journal in the first place, at the point where I discovered this. Enough with the reflection on with the business.
I am on vacation this week working just a little we will see how it works out. As much as my insides say work, my brain also says take a rest before the semester.
I am working on a few things right now I might post within the next week or two. Two things are already planned to go on here but I am writing something else as well. Time will tell where they go I don't want to give anything away yet other than they are going to be mini articles. An outlet to write. I might start doing them all the time.
Well off i go early tomorrow morning (wonderful.. morning.. gotta get coffee!)
I just felt like posting something to hold me over till I decide to publish something later in the week. I'll have to hit up a starbucks or my uncles net to get on and check the mail. Maybe ill opt for the 'bucks, just another excuse to get an espresso
As everyone already knows I am the Ham!

12:24 PM - Say What?
I just discovered this:
http://www.sequenza21.com/rosner.html
Via the Re-Blog but on Sequenza 21. Arnold Rosner proposed the idea to replace comments with "Blogules." I found this to be a rather comical and brilliant idea. Therefore with this word adopted all comments are now Blogules.
I would post more but 1. I have a ton to write today (and have started writing a little bit today and I am hopeful for good things!). Now, if I only had sugar for my coffee... ;-( 2. I don't want to bore everyone with my usual blabber because nothing has changed recently.
September will be way more exciting. However, I want to enjoy the rest of this summer like a comfortable - yet Productive - Bump on a Log. Maybe I'll come up with something interesting one of these days.
Please visit my Vistitor Map and leave your mark!

3:14 AM - By gosh i think shes got it!
A short post for a little person.
I started writing again! INSANE mental writing block going on for weeks now ceases to exist starting last night. It feels wonderful to be free again. Now, I am going to do what I call 'blaze' yes... First coined the term back during my symposium. Ah ha its back!
So... Works getting interesting. The school year is knocking at our door. Looks like I am going to hold a quasi-TA roll in one of my classes as well as doing all kinds of interesting work with not only my classes but the concert coming up and such. Its like never ending, seriously the clouds are parting and the sun is shining on this kids head. I feel like geeze I might have a gift, i should make use of it. (I really don't understand what I just said but it means something to me)
Ok I want to talk about mashups again. They are crazy, and the one I talked about in a last post (the Stairway to Bootleg Heaven) is one of the best I have heard (also has led to a new favorite quote: 'Because the world is round, it turns me on' -The Beetles, Because. What simplicity do i see there geeze wonderful words!) Okay to get to the point, there is this thing called modern music correct, YES SIR. Today no one knows exactly what it is (say that again...), in this world whatever goes and the confines and structure of what is classical, post-classical, contemporary, etc are being blurred constantly. What is different from some piece that is electronic to some piece that is electro acoustic other than the intent? (Good questions for a debate, but at another time) I keep on asking these questions, what is different from a mashup to ohhh musique concrète. Its just digital now not tape! Now anyone can jump on the bandwagon with their garage band or acid (not the drug.. the program.. eh) chop some stuff up layer mix match levels - wah la (like that mystery meat in the kafeteria (yes with a K!)) you have a freaking MAshUP! Well you must say Meg people have been doing them forever you know doing weird mixes like this. YES YES I know, I know its been happening but on such a large scale such as now? I don't think so I really don't. I mean its a great format it tis. I am not done with this talking of mashups. Its late I hardly make any sense but I had to get it out of my head at least that much.
On another note... I have been looking at pictures from Italy way too much constantly reminding myself that only 1.5 years and ill be back! So this might be interesting since its going to be a class again supposedly it might turn into some major piece I might write and try to get published (okay lets nix the 'try' and use: I AM - as the good ol Scriabin would say!). It would be really cool to do a major article or work on some established composer or genre or something from the wonderful ITALIA. hrmmm...
Oh and one last thing before I babble myself to bed... I have been writing. In an attempt to practice piano today I ended up elaborating on a melodic line as well as a quasi-bridge section for this piece I am writing. It looks like piano for now.. But I might do different arrangements for a grouping of instruments. I really like the intensity of the sound, but I need to vary up the chordal structure, its a little too minimal.. HA
Short post turns into long post.
I have my first private piano lesson of the year tomorrow. I am scared...
All the ideas right now, my gosh my brain is on fire someone come douse me in water! (or sleep...)
