Well work work and play play makes a busy meggie all day. HA! I think I should update. I am really getting into some crazy deep water of the internet. Just started a Wiki for the dept. Its interesting. Wiki, its like geeze this is the future of the internet. These infinite databases going on and on and on, but what bothers me is is all the information actually accurate? I mean these can all be used as huge databases for things that are not published yet in books. Theres are tons of WIKIs already that are so intense and detailed where are we going? Its all there in one nice package that can be edited by anyone. INSANE... I guess we will see where they go, but its all wildfire right now!
so this month went by and I never saw it. I am reading/researching/going to class and learning about Einstein's theory of relativity as well as string theory and quantum physics. Its my little side project and I think its making me go insane... Iam starting to wonder if 3 of the same thing is happening at once now and somewhere else and all the possibilities of situations in life. Its a mindfuck!! (please excuse my french, but its so true!) I watched What the Bleep Do We Know, and now The Elegant Universe (we are watching that in class) and my mind just keeps on going and going where is it going is it in 3 places or is it in onem does this make any sense... YES NO! YESNO! Physics is insane yet it connects with everything. I will leave it there before my head explodes. I don't think my roomy would like finding me later today with an exploded cranium.
I must say I am late on the boat for another technology. Podcasts... I am not going to go overboard with them (i am preventing myself from doing so) but DAMN talk about the future of broadcasting. I particularly want to give a shout out to an awesome podcast on Tech. TWiT is This Week in Tech and is hosted by Leo Laporte. He has this show on Tech Tv (formerly ZDTV) called Call for Help and he had a show called The Screen Savers (was a HUGE fan of it back in the day). I interviewed him for a report I did on technology and computers back in 8th grade (yeah now a junior in college it seemed like yesterday!!!). He is a wicked cool guy and has this killer podcast now. Heres the link listen thats the long short of it..

And now for something completely different: MASHUPs. Yes I have seen them popping up EVERYWHERE on the contemporary music blogs, so I am going to revel in the madness! I first saw it with Dangermouse and the Grey Album mixing Jay-Z with the Beatles (what the hell is he thinking, brilliant!) and now its everywhere. Its an unbelievable format really mixing pop songs all together into one. I might try it out someday but its insane. Right now i am listening to one with MC hammer and Marilyn Manson, whoop there it is and like another rock song in it. just brilliant. I will speak more on this subject at a later time. For now here are some damn good links, CLICKY:

found that on beepSNORT so I give them credit to finding it, its AMAZING...

another great site.
I also started composing the Italy work. Not sure where its going to go but August is the month for it. I end physics on thursday. More to be done there.
Scriabin in an interesting guy, so is Busoni and Janacek. Most composers are really interesting people, which is amazing. Some are insane, but it comes with the title i suppose. I know that means nothing but its just me rambling because i need to write and can't but going to in 2.5.

9:30 PM - 'I am off to see the wizard'
Another week almost finished I can't stand it! Summer is flying and it will only be weeks until the fall semester starts. All the cool things coming in fall! Possibly Sigur Ros in Boston, CMS conference in Quebec, choir, whatever else thats cool: yes! Ive been fighting focus problems with my writing all week, I should be fine going into this weekend though, hopefully. Today I went to Bates College to the Ladd library to do a bunch of research. Ive been to Bowdoin and USM, it seems like I've ordered half of UMOs library (hardly...) and long story short, damn does Bates have a music section. Phew did I have fun! Busoni, Ives, Scriabin, and now Janacek were the top searches today. Found quite a bit not as much as I wished for , but thanks to interlibrary loan i ordered the majority of what they had already from around Maine. I really got swept up into journals for about an hour. There are so many interesting journals out there that I would love to read. I know we are getting a bunch coming up, I should try to order some for myself when I find out what we ordered. I have decided after today I think I am going to make a trip down to Boston soon. I have no idea how I am going to do it but BC or Harvard might be in order. I have the research bug and I really want to get out there and get dirty in some pretty big libraries. Researching and writing what can I say, I thrive off of it. I got the biggest high today it was great, reminds me of December when I did my Satie piece.
Writing what can I say. Of course right now I am blogging, can't you tell... I let everything go I let grammar go words, placement structure. HA its like I am mentally vomiting into what I have to say just to get it all down. UGH! I am working on it. See sometimes my academic writing takes the curve of what my non-academic writing does. Is it a good thing, well it makes for interesting reading I am sure but I think I need to get serious.
Get serious what!? Yeah I need to do that too. Start thinking about where I am going and what I am doing. The idea of my direction and all the little sub-directions always lurks up on me during the weekends when I am not so preoccupied with research. I can't predict my life nor the future. I have an inkling of what and how, I have goals but who knows. Just need to keep on floating down the river.
